Communications Office Supervisor

Our client is a very reputable, stable organization who has been in business for over 20 years. They are currently looking for a Communications Office Supervisor to join their team. Hours: 8:00am – 4:00pm (Must be flex)

Salary: $60,000 – $70,000

Benefits: After 3 months

Position Summary:

Organize all day to day operations of the control center. Supervision of Communication Officers, coordinate daily work schedule of staff, and maintain duties as a Communication Officer. Available to support control center operations and staff during off work hours, primarily by telephone. Working with staff and demonstrating a positive attitude, providing leadership in a professional manner, building and nurturing a team environment. Responsible for using radio/computer based systems to dispatch and respond to emergency situations.

Position Responsibilities:

•Supervision of the communication officers, coordinate daily work schedule of staff, providing feedback and training as appropriate and maintain duties as a Communication Officer.

•Train communication officers on new systems and software introduced in the control room, assisting development of new procedures and methods, assist in identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing improvements.

•Perform administration duties (i.e. time sheets, shift schedules, staff appraisals, etc.)

•Train new staff in control center.

•Implement and document control center processes and protocols and ensure they are being followed and updated as required.

•Review control center logs and events/incidents from the previous day(s) activities and make corrections and add data as per accident reports, provide feedback to staff as part of continuous improvement.

•Control Center activities including daily review and assess prior shift’s activities

•Collect and organize all data pertaining to claims filed against the company.

•Train new staff in Control Centre.


•Business or vocational knowledge learned through Community College – 1 Year Program or equivalent experience.

•Related post secondary education / training an asset

•Strong computer skills using Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, CAD,IMS, RWIS, access and two- way radio dispatch equipment

•Experience with using radio dispatch equipment.

•Must possess strong supervision, communication and organization skills.

•Ability to prioritize and work well under pressure.

•Strong interpersonal, decision making and problem solving skills.

•Team player capable of working independently.
