Shipper/Forklift Driver – Burnaby – 45-50K

On behalf of our client, we are looking for a Shipper/Forklift Driver. Our client is a family-owned food manufacturer specializing in organic and natural foods. You will be working in a new and large facility in Burnaby with about 100 employees. The company was founded in 2009 and is currently experiencing high growth!

This is a full-time, permanent position with benefits and opportunities for growth. This is a day shift you are required to work on-site full-time. The shift time is 8AM to 430 PM or 7AM to 3:30 PM. You will be reporting to the Warehouse Manager.

Your tasks as a Shipper/Forklift Driver:

• Move goods to appropriate storage areas operating a forklift, reach truck and counterbalance the machine in a safe manner (about 20-40% of the time)
• Perform general physical activities in order to load, unload, sort and move shipments by hand or using material handling equipment.
• Organize material neatly to easily identify the product (e.g., properly labeled, date received, etc.)
• Work closely with production department to ensure scheduled production demands are met.
• Transport raw materials, finished products and packaging materials
• Ensure all shipping and receiving practices are followed including efficiently and accurately receiving by inspecting product/pallet conditions before off load, resolving variances, maintaining accurate records of receiving functions and managing the flow of all materials.
• Record shortages and reject damaged goods as per company policy.
• Pack, seal, and label materials to prepare for shipping.
• Ensure all shipping practices are followed including efficiently and accurately loading trucks, resolving variances, maintaining accurate records of shipping functions and managing the flow of all materials.
• Prepare documents such as work orders, bills of lading and shipping orders.

Qualifications as Shipper/Forklift Driver

• 2+ years’ experience as a Forklift Driver/Shipper within a face pace environment (food manufacturing is ideal)
• 2+ years’ experience as a Forklift Driver (sit-down and reach truck)
• Ability to lift 30-40 lbs. repeatedly
• Can drive a forklift safely in tight spaces
• Proficient computer skills are required to enter, post, and submit all transactions.
• Forklift license is ideal but can recertify – counterbalance, walkie and reach truck are an asset.
