Senior Pastry Chef:

Reporting to the Executive Chef, you will be responsible for safely preparing ingredients required for food service from a sanitary environment. The ideal candidate would have previous fine dining kitchen experience and are motivated by desire to progress in a dynamic, fast-paced, and challenging environment.

Duties and responsibilities may include:

  • Work in a fast, safe and efficient manner especially during service times to achieve consistently high food quality in a productive and cost-effective environment
  • Comply with kitchen procedures, recipe and prep sheets, cleaning schedules and all other duties required to work in an efficient kitchen
  • Responsible for creating and preparing desserts in accordance with existing menu
  • Ensure compliance with food handling safety regulation, health and safety workplace policies and procedures
  • Maintaining a high standard of personal hygiene & appearance is a must
  • Actively participate in the development and creation of new pastries and deserts for seasonal releases
  • Producing batters, fillings, pastries, doughs and custards
  • Decorating (including piping, glazing, chocolate work, etc.)
  • Maintain efficient stock controlling methods for all kitchen-related products, specifically towards maintaining shelf life, stock rotating to avoid waste and spoilage
  • Maintain all food items at the approved temperature to prevent contamination or health risks
  • Strict adherence to all health and safety protocols, as well as food safety
  • Set up, takedown and maintain a clean workspace
  • To complete all work in an orderly and timely fashion

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2-3 years’ experience as a pastry chef
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, mornings, and nights
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Willingness and ability to learn quickly
  • Must be energetic with a passion for food and a positive attitude
  • Excellent communication skills and strong teamwork ethic
  • Must be able to follow oral and written instructions
  • Must exhibit a high degree of professionalism (i.e., punctuality, commitment to the job, well-groomed, mannerly, great team work etc.)
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Long periods of standing and walking is required
  • Repetitive use of hands, dexterity, bending down
  • Ability to problem solve creatively and calmly under pressure
  • Positive attitude and a hunger for knowledge and growth
  • Ability to build and nurture relationships with team members
  • Food handling and health & safety training an asset
  • Completion of related pastry culinary program
