Senior Maintenance Technician – Edmonton, Alberta
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Maintenance Technician for our newly built facility. This individual will play a crucial role in the installation, maintenance, and improvement of facility equipment within a validated cGMP environment. The Senior Maintenance Technician will also have the authority for decision-making, problem-solving, and empowerment to oversee the daily operations of the maintenance department.
·Perform technical troubleshooting on various modalities, technologies, and locations.
·Conduct regularly scheduled preventative maintenance on high-volume, validated processing equipment.
·Review and recommend continuous improvement changes or Lean practices for preventative maintenance tasks.
Planning and Coordination:
·Plan and coordinate resources and materials for planned and unplanned repairs of equipment.
·Ensure proper documentation for maintenance activities is completed and entered into the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
·Initiate change control documentation for changes to validated processes.
·Adhere to, train on, and enforce safety practices such as Lockout/Tagout and proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
·Ensure compliance with safety practices among the maintenance team.
Training and Development:
·Recommend skills improvement training for self and other technicians to enhance equipment performance.
·Provide training and support to other team members as needed.
Lean Principles and Team Collaboration:
·Contribute to a Lean team environment by seeking ways to improve safety systems, equipment performance, and cost savings.
·Provide guidance and support to other maintenance staff and direct outside contractors on facility maintenance tasks.
Calibration and Emergency Response:
·Ensure timely equipment calibrations using established procedures.
·Be available for after-hours emergency response activities and overtime as needed.
·Act as a backup in the absence of the Maintenance Manager.
Team Collaboration and Compliance:
·Contribute to a team effort by adhering to policies, GMP, Lean principles, and other directives.
·Support the directives and decisions of higher-level management and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience Include:
·Minimum of five (5) years of related experience.
·Ability to read, interpret, and practically apply electrical ladder diagrams and mechanical blueprints.
·Working knowledge of PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers) or other types of process control equipment.
·Effective reading, writing, and verbal communication skills in English.
·Ability to work independently under general guidelines and supervision.
·Computer skills with proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, and relevant software.
·Effective interpersonal skills as demonstrated through prior experience.
·Above-average organizing, analyzing, and a minimum of Level 3 math skills (ratios, proportions, basic algebra).
·Ability to adapt to changing duties and responsibilities.
·Normal hearing range sufficient to hear alarms, bells, horns, etc.
