Our client is a family-owned food manufacturer specializing in organic and natural foods. You will be working in a new and large facility in Burnaby with about 100 employees. The company was founded in 2009 and is currently experiencing high growth. There are manufacturing 2 sites located nearby. We are seeking a Purchaser/Buyer or Purchasing Manager working on the day shift. You will be working on-site full-time. This is a permanent position, and you will be reporting to the Director of Operations and President.
Compensation/Perks:
• $60k to $80k for Purchaser/Buyer
• $80 to $95k for Purchasing Manager

Responsibilities
• Purchase raw materials (nuts, oil, coconut, packaging)
• Oversee the evaluation of the cost and quality of goods or services
• Oversee the analysis of data and information
• Negotiate new contracts with international suppliers
• Identify cost-saving opportunities
• Provide guidance to other Team Members
• Manage inventory levels to maintain a high fill rate
• Proactively mitigate and solve supply chain issue
• Find new suppliers and source new innovative raw materials for product launches
• Work with QA Team and suppliers on supplier approval
• Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers
• Issue purchase orders in the ERP system
• Advise senior management
• Maintain inventory and records of food, supplies and equipment
• Import/Export experience
• Source new suppliers when necessary to ensure a proper flow of inventory
• Review, place, expedite and coordinate purchase orders to ensure the timely delivery of raw materials
• Oversee import: ensuring the flow of products are arriving on time to ensure on-time delivery
• Manage inventory – keeping track of raw materials and updating the list of products
• Ensure imported raw materials are coming in on time
• Manage inbound/outbound deliveries (contact couriers, prepare delivery log sheets, obtain shipping quotes, complete waybills, schedule deliveries, etc.)
Qualifications
• 3+ years of experience as a Purchaser/Buyer/Purchasing Manager within a large/medium-sized food/natural food manufacturing company
• Experience with negotiating new contracts with international suppliers
• Experience purchasing/buying raw food materials
• Experience with Inventory Management and Procurement Systems
• MS office
• Strong Excel and data entry skills
