Job Description

Our client is part of an internationally renowned household consumer goods brand traded publicly. Our client offers millions of trusted products in food goods and food packaging and has several offices across North-America and Europe. They are an organization that holds quality and customer relationship building as part of its strong values is presently seeking a Payroll Administrator to join their growing team.

Tasks:

  • Collects and ensures the validity of the information required for the preparation of payroll (change of pay, hours worked, etc.)
  • Prepares the weekly payrolls in accordance with the different rules (company policy, collective agreement and various legislation) for salaried employees (60) and about 200 unionized employees
  • Responsibility for updating payroll records and employee records
  • Protects the confidentiality of staff records
  • Prepares and distributes various reports on pay (report to managers, employee association and government agencies)
  • Listens, filters and appropriately manages employee grievances and comments and makes recommendations
  • Administers group insurance records (follow-up on short and long-term disability files with the insurer and employees)
  • Administers the pension plan records
  • Prepares report for month end (Journal entry for wages weekly bases)
  • Back up for Brampton location (understand Ontario rules)

Requirements:

  • College diploma in accounting and 5 years of experience
  • Solid understanding of accounting fundamentals and payroll best practices
  • Member of the Canadian Payroll Administrators Association, an asset
  • Proficient in MS Office and good knowledge of payroll software (ADP knowledge is an asset)
  • Excellent communication skills in both English and in French
