Machine Operator
Our client based in Brantford has an opportunity for an experienced Machine Operator to join their expanding team.
Position will be responsible for operating multi-function process control and single-function machines to process and package food products. They perform material handling, clean-up, packaging and other elemental activities related to food processing and are responsible for production, quality, and food safety on the production line.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- Ensure all process and products follow GMP’s, HACCP, WHMIS, Health & Food Safety standards • Assist Line Leader with plant start up and shut down, and troubleshooting issues
- Responsible for ensuring all product recipes are followed, saved and loaded correctly
- Monitor dough for quality issues and adjust dough “streams”
- Assist Line Leader with loading of palm oil and raw materials when needed
- Ensure Critical Control Points checks are completed
- Feed and unload food and associated products into processing machines
- Competent and versed on the functions of a variety of adjustments at both the Minipan and bagger
- Responsible for taking corrective action on Minipan, Bagger/Ishida Scale & Ovens and alerting Line Leader/Supervisor of actions taken
- Verify that all batches produced on shift in timely manner respecting production schedules
- Conduct oven temperature checks and clear machine blockages as required
- Collect samples of materials or products, check and record parameters for QA testing
- Communicate continuously any production issues to Line leader or Machine Operators downstream to enable time to prepare & deal with scrap and line difficulties
- Communicates with Supervisor and Maintenance in eliminating downtime
- Transport raw materials, finished products and packaging materials throughout plant and warehouse manually, or with powered equipment
- Successfully assist with changeovers and set up for different products following procedures, ensuring timely completions, and returning ingredients to designated storage areas
- Complete changeover check sheets when necessary
- Empty reject belt bin while coordinating with the shipper/receiver
- Handle product with care to minimize loss of quality or appearance of finished goods
- Ensure product is packaged according to company quality standards
- Clean and sanitize machines, work areas and equipment following GMP and HACCP standards • Ensure machine and floors are free from debris and product
- Ensure machine is locked out according to company safety policies and procedures
- Safely use a variety of utensils, equipment and industrial bakery machinery
- Certified hoist operator with the ability to operate crane while performing forming unit changes
- Communicate well, follow work orders, recognize product codes
- Willingness to learn, cross train and accept other duties as assigned
- Attends all Food Safety & Health & Safety training as required
- Provides relief for breaks of production staff
• Performs all other duties as assigned by Supervisor
Qualifications—Skills and Competencies:
• Communicate with Line Leader and Quality Assurance about any concerns with finished product
• Make necessary adjustments to sheeting when needed to correct any concerns
• Previous experience as a machine operator within industrial baking, GMP regulated food & beverage or consumer packaged goods industry required
• Meets the physical demands of the position • Strong mechanical aptitude, excellent hand & eye co-ordination
• Performs basic math and measurement operations, strong problem-solving skills
• Ability to meet/exceed goals in a fast-paced environment
• Works well in a team environment, high sense of urgency, attention to detail
• Positive attitude, strong communication skills
• Adherence to Grissin Bon Food Safety & Health & Safety policies and procedures WORKING CONDITIONS
• Regularly exposed to/work near moving mechanical parts and heavy machinery
• Regularly exposed to noisy environments • Regularly exposed to hot humid conditions
• May be exposed to dusty environments
• May be exposed to chemicals used in the manufacturing process
• The employee must be able to climb ladders and access/work on work platforms
• The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally 50 pound
