Role: Life Cycle Material Manager

Status: Permanent

Location: Abbotsford, BC

Our client, one of Canada’s leading specialist’s contractors within aerospace and defense is seeking a Life Cycle Material Manager to liaise directly with the client on technical issues relating to components and systems, and to ensure that all material support activities are carried out in accordance with approved policy and procedures, while being aware of client’s requirements.

  • Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of equipment acquisition and support functions
  • Liaise, at appropriate levels, with other staffs with whom he shares management responsibilities (procurement and purchasing)
  • Maintain overall knowledge of support facility capabilities (for modifications, repairs and overhauls), including: workshops, bases and units contractors, manufacturers and suppliers technical test centers and other government facilities
  • Maintain a general knowledge of the state of the art in their areas of responsibility
  • Implement actions to restore project performance to meet objectives
  • Advise management on issues of concern
  • Participate in the administrative activities of the department including following and working to develop new administrative practices and procedures
  • Ensure that all workplace conduct is in accordance with Human Resources, safety and security policies and procedures
  • Perform other duties as required


  • Secondary school degree or diploma in a related field, the completion of an acceptable accredited technologist level program in electronics or aircraft systems at a technical institution, or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience
  • 2+ years of recent experience (within the last 10 years) working on modern, complex highly integrated aircraft mechanical and electronic equipment and systems
  • Experience in the disposal of material designated as “controlled goods” or “controlled technology”
  • Excellent communication skills: oral and written
  • Excellent knowledge of regulatory requirements
  • Proven customer relations skills
  • Sense of initiative, productivity and quality of work
  • Good interpersonal skills – gets along well with others
  • Intermediate computer skills: word processing, spreadsheet and database
  • Be able to meet the requirements of the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), the U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Canadian government security clearances
