The roles and responsibilities of our Industrial Engineer – HSE Safety Officer in Granby are:

Management of Safety Systems:

– Implement and uphold safety policies and procedures in accordance with local and state regulations applicable to the organization’s activities.

– Maintain the Safety Management System (SMS) in compliance with both state and organizational standards.

– Ensure strict adherence to company policies, procedures, and regulations.

Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment:

– Analyze all hazardous activities and implement necessary preventive measures.

Equipment Safety:

– Oversee timely inspections of safety equipment, both internal and by external contractors.

Goals and Safety Programs:

– Contribute to setting organization-wide Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) goals.

– Participate in the development, communication, and coordination of environmental, health, and safety programs.

– Ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards.

Continuous Improvement:

– Identify and champion best practices, leading initiatives for continuous improvement in work processes to reduce risks, enhance safety awareness, and improve work practices.

Training Initiatives:

– Implement and manage employee training programs in line with regulatory guidelines and safety equipment usage.

New Initiatives and Guidance:

– Provide technical advice, coaching, and guidance to managers and employees on safety initiatives and necessary changes.

Assurance and Reporting:

– Conduct safety surveys and inspections, prepare reports with findings and recommendations, and ensure follow-up on corrective and preventative measures.

– Ensure timely compliance with reporting requirements set by health safety regulations.


– Effectively liaise with HSE manager and subcontractors.

– Participate in various meetings, committees, and forums related to Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) activities.

Incident Management:

– Gather and record incident data.

– Report incidents to the HSE Manager and relevant governmental authorities.

– Implement preventive measures to avoid incidents across the organization.

Waste and Environmental Management:

– Manage hazardous waste and maintain accurate records.

– Conduct timely inspections to evaluate air and water quality.

– Ensure the validity of environmental permits.

Contingency Management:

– Develop and implement emergency response plans in compliance with state regulations.

– Ensure workforce competency in contingency management.

– Provide support for the execution of global operation emergency response plans and manage emergency situations.

– Maintain communication hotlines with relevant parties such as Fire Station, Police Station, and Hospitals.

The qualifications required to obtain the role:

  • Diploma of college studies in Environment, Occupational Safety & Health, or Engineering from a recognized institute.
  • Bachelor’s Degree and current relevant health and safety qualifications (e.g., NEBOSH Diploma, IOSH, CSP Certificate, or equivalent).
  • Minimum 5-10 years of work experience in construction, with at least 5+ years in a supervisory role.
  • Thorough knowledge of International HSE standards, codes, and industry practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English/French.
  • Legislative knowledge and the ability to implement and manage HSE legislation.
  • Understanding of technical HSE (P&ID, HAZOP, SIL, MOC process, etc.).
  • Competency certification (e.g., Lead Auditor OHSAS 18001) is preferred.
  • Previous project experience with a Korean EPC contractor is a valuable asset, though not mandatory.
