GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of current HR management practices, employment standards, and federal and provincial legislation (e.g. employment laws and regulations)

  • Support the recruitment, interview, and new hire process by preparing job descriptions, posting job openings, sourcing candidates, screening applications, coordinating the selection process, preparing the interview schedules/agenda, performing background and reference checks, and issuing employment contracts/agreements, etc.

  • Ensure all employee records are filed and maintained correctly and kept confidential

  • Support the delivery and deployment of HR programs and processes and participate in coaching and guiding in functional and cross-functional initiatives (performance management, compensation, engagement, and the termination processes)

  • Collaborate with operations and other relevant stakeholders in the review, refinement, and/or development of human resources management programs, policies, processes, and resources. Prepares policies and processes of low to high complexity for review

  • Investigates and resolves employee relations matters. Consults with internal or external legal counsel where required

  • Exercises sound judgment to ensure effective risk management and mitigation

  • Help maintain positive employee relations and work to ensure worker satisfaction through education of HR policies and by fostering a positive work environment

  • Act as a liaison between employees and management, as well as between employees and benefit vendors/administrators

  • Ensure compliance to health and safety regulations (WSIB), promote a safe and healthy environment, support STD and LTD return to work cases

  • Support any internal event organization and coordination, including recreational events and training development activities

  • Produce and submit reports on general HR activity

  • Keep up-to-date with the latest HR trends and best practice

  • Assist in ad-hoc HR projects

  • Performs other related duties as needed

EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant HR experience required.

  • Bilingual as asset

  • Ability to establish trust and credibility

  • Advanced consulting skills along with a high degree of business insight and the ability to accurately assess business issues and provide sound advice and solutions

  • Ability to exercise sound judgment

  • Advanced relationship management abilities with the ability to develop and maintain relationships with individuals at all position levels

  • Project management skills are an asset

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills

EDUCATION:

  • Post-secondary diploma or university degree in Human Resources or related field.

  • CHRP Designation is an asset.
