Heavy Equipment Mechanic – Excavation Machinery

Our client, a modern leader in large-scale excavation, is looking to hire a Heavy Equipment Mechanic to their growing team. As the Heavy Equipment Mechanic, the successful candidate will inspect and diagnose components and equipment for servicing needs repair/rebuild heavy duty construction equipment as required.

Job Duties

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions; service attachments and working tools
  • Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts; test repaired equipment for proper performance
  • Perform preventative, planned and unplanned maintenance; clean, lubricate and perform other maintenance work
  • Repair, overhaul, trouble shoot and test mechanical and electronic equipment
  • Verify and repair emission control, hydraulic, and electrical systems
  • Use hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, cutting torches and measuring instruments
  • Ensure that all equipment is continually maintained at the highest standards
  • Maintain service paperwork, records and logs
  • Promote safety awareness; follow policies and procedures on quality, health, safety and environment; follow health and safety standards as required under the OH&S, as well as company procedures and standards in addition to ensuring compliance with applicable federal and provincial regulations

What you need

  • Valid 421A certification, 6-10 years previous experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic
  • High School diploma or equivalent General Education Diploma (GED)
  • Good communication skills, above average hand-eye coordination, problem-solving ability, excellent time management
  • Hard-work ethic, both under supervision and independently, or as part of team
  • High attention to detail and organization; must be able to multi-task
  • Capable of working in a physically demanding work environment including working outside in the field as required
  • Must have CSA approved green tagged steel-toe safety boots
  • Valid G driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract is required
  • Must be capable of lifting up to 50 lbs unassisted
