Job Description

Our client, is currently seeking a Health and Safety Specialist who will be accountable for the understanding of legal safety requirements and setting standards for the company’s workforce. The H&S Specialist works with managers, departments and employees to establish preventive measures and methods in order to provide a safe and healthy workplace


  • Performs safety audits, inspections, and evaluations to identify potential hazards and implements corrective actions in accordance with regulatory requirements;

  • Identifies risks for each occupation – sets standards / preventive measures and eliminates risks e.g. noise, ventilation, etc.;

  • Collaborates with facility changes to ensure legal safety requirements are integrated in the design plans;

  • Leads the safety committee;

  • Creates and maintains Health and Safety policies;

  • Responsible for upkeep of First Aid members and their training;

  • Organizes and coordinates Health and Safety trainings and activities;

  • Provides outreach to employees, promoting safety awareness throughout the organization;

  • Ensures proper application of safety programs (SIMDUT, padlocking etc.);

  • Investigates complaints and reports of unsafe or unhealthful working conditions; provides recommendations; and verifies completion of action;

  • Maintains recordkeeping for injury/illness cases in accordance with safety requirements;

  • Evaluates / analyzes root cause to incidents and accidents and ensures proper corrective measures.

  • Handles all CSST cases (follow ups, contestations etc.);

  • Creates and maintains light duty tasks for all job categories;

  • Manages the Evacuation Response Plan and leads the members of the ERP committee;

  • Assists in the analysis of ergonomics in the workplace;

  • Develops action plans, procedures and approaches in terms of preventive measures aimed at improving safety and redressing dangerous situations.


  • Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in Occupational Health & Safety
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working as a safety professional in an industrial or manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of legislation (la commission des normes du travail, LATMP)
  • Solid analytical skills
  • Highly organized and great multitasking skills
  • Discrete and strong work ethics
