On behalf of our client, we are looking for an Occupational Health and Safety Advisor. Our client is a family-owned food manufacturer specializing in organic and natural foods. You will be working in a new and large facility in Burnaby with about 100 employees. The company was founded in 2009 and is currently experiencing high growth!

This is a full-time, permanent position with benefits and opportunities for growth. This is a day shift you are required to work on-site full-time. The shift time is 8AM to 430 PM or 7AM to 3:30 PM. You will be reporting to the VP of Operations. You may have to work the occasional overtime.

Your tasks as a Health and Safety Officer:

• responsible for all facets of health and safety for in a food manufacturing facility

• Implement and oversee safety programs.

• establishing, participating, and advising in all occupational health & safety, security and wellness initiatives and programs

• liaising with the administrative and operations departments; ensuring support, direction, and training for the organization designed to promote an injury-free workplace with a strong safety culture which supports ongoing OSSE certification and continuous improvement

• Identification of hazardous conditions and practices, including Lockout/Tagout procedures, risk assessments and development of recommendation.

• Ensuring the quality of accident investigations and the completion of documentation

• working on the floor to ensure employee, contractor and guests are following safety procedures

• completing reports, collecting data, researching, training, creating SOPS, and recording statistics

• dealing with WorkSafeBC and Fraser Health officers

• Safety program design, updating, and continuous monitoring

• Claims management and disability management experience

• Experience designing, writing, and facilitating training program

Qualifications as Health and Safety Advisor:

• 2+ years of experience as a Health and Safety Adviser within a medium/large manufacturing industry (ideally food manufacturing)

• CSSE certification (nice to have)

• Diploma or degree in Occupational Health & Safety for British Columbia

• Working knowledge of WorkSafeBC regulations, policies, and the appeal system

• Experience dealing with WorkSafeBC and Fraser Health officers

• Experience dealing with Safety program design, updating, and continuous monitoring

• Claims management and disability management experience

• Able to multi-task and work under pressure
