Job Description

The Guest Attendant is accountable to the Resident Care Manager for the provision of hospitality style dining services, support with activities of daily living and housekeeping services as assigned utilizing customer service principles that strive to provide exceptional service at all times. This role may also assist with recreation program support in varying locations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 Practices safe food handling techniques throughout all aspects of food preparation and service;

 Responsible for all aspects of hospitality style dining service, including table/tray presentation, preparation and serving of beverages and accompaniments, serving of food;

 Assists with the preparation and presentation of food under the direction of the Chef;

 Utilizes “ Ready ,Set, Serve” guidelines for setting, serving and clearing tables and serving counters;

 Carries out general cleaning duties and routines including scraping, washing, stacking, and dishes as required;

 Promotes and tracks a la carte & wine service sales in accordance with prescribed procedures.

 Maintains a safe and clean environment for residents utilizing rotational cleaning practices & infection control principles;

 Completes laundry and housekeeping duties as outlined by assignments;

 Maintains and uses all equipment in a safe manner and reports any problems to supervisor;

 Completes special cleaning assignments as assigned.

 Participates in admission orientation and the transfer process of residents as directed;

 Works with other departmental personnel to ensure continuity of care;

 Answers all resident call bells and door alarms promptly and provides courteous service;

 Completes all aspects of resident care as outlined in the plan of care and care assignment;

 Communicates with Resident Care Manager about problems related to resident care and/or safety;

 Transports residents to and from their rooms, recreational activities, health office and dining room as required.

 Maintains all areas of the building in a tour ready manner;

 Advises supervisor or designate immediately of all team members incidents that may result in an Occupational Accident Claim, any concerns with the physical plant, incidents or injuries and completes required reports;

 Follows all health and safety policies and procedures. Works safely to reduce the risk of injury to self, co-workers, and residents;  Wears personal protective equipment as designated;

 Work in accordance with the organization’s Health and Safety Policies and Procedures and in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act;

QUALIFICATIONS:

 Must have ‘Safe Serve’ designation and one year experience in dining room service;

 Ability to work independently and/or as a member of a team;

 Food Handlers Certification preferred;

 Current CPR training and guest attendant training recommended;

 Experience working with seniors and knowledge of the aging process;

 Effective verbal and written English communication skills required.

EDUCATION:  Minimum grade 12 education.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

 Interaction with male and female residents of all ethnic and cultural backgrounds;

 Lifting alone and with assistance;

 Pushing/pulling content;  Crouching, kneeling, stooping/bending for short periods of time;

 Walking and climbing stairs frequently;  Standing for long periods of time;
