Role: Ground Support Equipment Technician

Status: Permanent

Location: Abbotsford, BC

Our client, one of Canada’s leading specialists contractors within aerospace and defense is seeking a Ground Support Equipment Technician.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform visual mechanical inspections of all GSEs according to a pre-established schedule, including, but not limited to, scissor lifts, boom lifts, tugs, tankers, forklifts, scaffolds, forklifts and hydraulic cylinders.
  • Identify maintenance needs according to schedule or inspection.
  • Complete supporting documentation to record inspections performed.
  • Report results to Facilities Team Leader.
  • Repair all GSE units.
  • Decommission GSE units deemed defective, unsafe or in need of repair.
  • Dismantle the GSE components concerned, repair or replace them and reassemble them.
  • Repair, weld and replace GSE parts as required.
  • Request parts needed for repairs.
  • Source parts from the appropriate supplier, if necessary.
  • Effectively document repairs.
  • Perform mechanical maintenance on company vehicles.
  • Ensure that all maintenance tasks are performed in accordance with Cascade Aerospace health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma.
  • 3+ years experience in automotive maintenance, including brake inspection and repair.
  • 5+ years experience in general mechanics.
  • Certificate in Automotive Mechanics and/or Welding; Forklift, Scissor Lift and Boom Lift.
  • Experience as a truck mechanic would be an asset.
  • Excellent communication skills: fluency in written and spoken English is mandatory.
  • Ability to use a variety of tools.
  • Knowledge of various trades, including plumbing, carpentry, electrical and metalwork.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple assigned tasks to ensure timely completion.
  • Good knowledge of all mechanical processes and procedures.
  • Good work ethic with proven attendance and punctuality.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to change.
  • Must be Canadian residents or permanent residents.
