Fabricator/Mechanic

Our client, a manufacturer in the hydraulic systems industry located in Burlington, Ontario is on the hunt for a Fabricator/Mechanic with a millwright background. We’re looking for someone with experience doing heavy, strenuous work, using hand tools, experience with MIG Welding, reading basic blueprints, and has worked with various machinery and power tools. Your tasks as the Fabricator/Mechanic:

• Performing maintenance and repairs
• MIG Welding (10-20% of the time)
• Maintaining an organized work area
• Use of hand tools and power tools
• Repair gear reducers (replacing gears, bearings, seals, shims, gaskets, etc.)
• Performing maintenance on customer products
• Reading basic blueprints
• Installing and tearing down of hydraulic systems
• Repairing hydraulic cylinders/pumps
• Other duties as assigned (must be able and willing to do a little bit of everything)

The required qualifications of the Fabricator/Mechanic:

• Strong mechanical aptitude
• Must be willing and able to do heavy work on a repetitive basis
• Looking for a parts repairer NOT replacer
• Critical thinking and problem solving skills
• Must be forklift certified
• Trade certification (i.e. Millwright, Industrial or Automotive Mechanic) considered an asset or equivalent experience
• Simple blueprint reading
• Must be able to work under pressure in a busy environment
• Must be able to commit to a day shift
• Great communication skills
• Ability to learn and adapt quickly
• Must own a pair of safety boots
• Gear box repair skills are a huge asset
