Responsibilities for Electronic Components Engineer :

  • Maintain EEE components in the PLM database (create and update documentation)
  • Analyze, approve and implement new part number requests for ERP and PLM uploads
  • Maintain the Approved Vendor List (AVL): selecting alternate sources of supply; approving all changes, adding and deleting of EEE components
  • Assess impact of PCN alerts (Part Change Notice) from parts suppliers
  • Identify alternate parts in cases of obsolescence or where lead times or component costs are unsuitable
  • Identify sourcing risk exposures and provide recommendations for supply chain continuity
  • Identifies and mitigates potential EOL components based on data analysis and BOM reviews using
  • Supports impact analysis, strategic planning and monitoring of action plan on technology migration
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams on part selection, risk assessment, design reviews, and proactively drive risk mitigation
  • Supports failure/root cause analysis and mitigate technical component issues by working with engineering, production and suppliers
  • Supports supplier evaluations for strategic sourcing opportunities
  • Supports maintenance of component library
  • Assist the R&D department in the selection of components
  • Understands safety regulatory, RoHS, and EMI standards, approvals and requirements

Qualifications for Electronic Components Engineer :

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, or manufacturing engineering/technology, or equivalent professional experience
  • 3+ years experience in a similar role (such as R&D technician) in the electrical engineering industry or in a related field
  • Must be familiar the following components: OSSC, Crystals, and memories
  • Must be familiar with Silicon Experts or EHS
  • Strong proven knowledge of key electronic and mechanical devices
  • Understanding and working knowledge of engineering document control practices
  • Strong understanding of supply chain management
  • Ability to collaborate across engineering and business disciplines to meet quality goals
  • Strong interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Knowledge of PLM and component review databases, such as Silicon Expert, considered an asset
