Draftsman

We are currently seeking motivated Draftsman to join our team for a large Heating Unit manufacturer located in Stoney Creek, Ontario.

Responsibilities and DUTIES

·Create detailed 2D and 3D technical drawings, layouts, and schematics for radiant heating products and systems using CAD software (SolidWorks/AutoCAD)

·Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and production teams to develop accurate designs and production-ready blueprints

·Update and revise existing drawings based on feedback and design modifications

·Maintain drawing archives, ensuring accurate document control and version management

·Interpret customer specifications and translate them into technical drawings that meet project requirements

·Ensure all drawings comply with relevant codes, industry standards, and safety regulations

·Participate in design review meetings and provide input on product improvements

·Assist with material take-offs, bill of materials (BOM) preparation, and costing support for projects

·Assist with assembly and testing of equipment in our CSA certified lab, ensuring equipment is in accordance with technical specifications and safety standards

Assist in identifying troubleshooting issues during the assembly or testing phase and report findings to supervisors

Qualifications & Education Requirements:

Education: Associate degree or technical diploma in drafting, engineering, or a related field

Experience: 2-5 years’ experience in drafting (preferably in manufacturing, HVAC, or mechanical systems)

Software Proficiency: Strong experience with CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar tools)

Technical Skills: Familiarity with mechanical systems, especially heating systems

Attention to Detail: Ability to produce accurate and high-quality drawings with minimal errors

Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to collaborate across departments

Problem Solving: Ability to troubleshoot design issues and propose effective solutions

Organizational skills: Experience managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines efficiently
