Job Description

Our client, a grand figure in the transport industry for over 17 years, is currently hiring a trucking dispatcher/load planner for their Dorval location. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the ideal candidate is responsible for the effective management of an assigned fleet of drivers and trucks. A family-owned company, this role is integral to the growing team.

Responsibilities:

  • Creating work orders
  • Managing all outbound LTL-FTL customer loads; planning, monitoring, and dispatching
  • Maximize revenue and optimize equipment by managing lanes, assets, and space
  • Providing rates and quotes to customers
  • Ensuring on time pick-ups and deliveries by scheduling appointments and tracking trucks daily
  • Preparing all documentation to ensure clearance for crossing borders
  • Creating envelopes and warehouse road sheets for drivers
  • Pay approval for drivers
  • Checking gate reports to corroborate driver sheets
  • Providing terminals with ETA’s of freight and trailers
  • Request rate quotes from terminals for re-delivery (as needed)
  • Providing regular and proactive customer service to develop and maintain relationships
  • Communicating with drivers regularly to maintain equipment, encourage, and support.

Requirements:

  • Must have experience in dispatch, roughly 5 years
  • Must be able to work 8:30-5 but occasionally on call
