The Database Administrator will be responsible for:
- Analyze, solve, and resolve issues in real-time, ensuring end-to-end problem resolution.
- Manage and operate large-scale critical production database systems efficiently.
- Provide direct operational support for the entire production database infrastructure, including high availability and database replication.
- Install and configure database servers (MS SQL 2016+) using various high availability technologies such as Availability Groups and Failover Cluster Instances.
- Conduct capacity planning, performance tuning, monitoring, troubleshooting, patching, and optimization of the databases.
- Develop automation for database processes, tasks, and procedures to enhance efficiency.
- Adhere to operational policies and processes that comply with ITIL standards.
- Perform root cause analysis and proactively offer recommendations to prevent issues from arising.
- Effectively manage monitoring and alerting tools, including PowerShell scripts, Redgate, and logic monitor.
- Document technical requirements, justifications, and recommendations to maintain accurate Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Collaborate with the DBA team and participate in the on-call support rotation effectively.
The required qualifications for the Database Administrator are:
- 7+ years of experience with MS SQL Server versions 2022, 2019, 2017, and 2016.
- Experience working with Microsoft Azure and/or AWS Solutions.
- Strong knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server, such as Always On availability groups, Log Shipping, Transactional Replication, and Windows Server Failover Clustering.
- Hands-on experience with MS SQL Server database upgrades, patching, and comprehensive testing of all aspects of database refreshes.
- Proficient in SQL statement writing.
- Demonstrated expertise in T-SQL database programming and Windows PowerShell scripting.
- Technical knowledge and experience with Windows OS platforms from 2008 to 2019.
- Experience with tasks like Import & Export, Backup & Recovery, and Database maintenance plans, including Indexing, Statistics, and Database Integrity tasks.
- Skilled in troubleshooting SQL Server performance issues, such as CPU, Memory, Disk I/O, Deadlocks, Blockings/Lockings, and query tuning for slow/long running queries.
- Preferably holds MCSE Server Infrastructure certification or ITIL certification.
