Our Mississauga based client is growing and as a result are adding to their Bilingual French Payroll Specialist team!

The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for the effective and accurate processing of complex biweekly payrolls in a high volume payroll department. Payroll involves hourly and salaried as well as union and non-unionized employees. The successful candidate will have experience in implementation of a new system and be system savvy, experience with Fusion HCM is a definite asset.

Responsibilities:

  • Process the full cycle of multi-province, biweekly payrolls for salary and hourly employees in both union and non-union environments
  • Administer various payments such as sick pay, retroactive pay, vacation pay etc.
  • Respond to inquiries from various stakeholders regarding payroll matters
  • Interprets multiple union contracts, ensuring all calculations in the payroll are correct
  • Process payments to third parties; garnishments, union dues, RRSP and pension payments ensuring that deductions are in accordance with provincial and federal legislation and according to union agreements and corporate policies
  • Ensure that monthly and year-end regulatory filings are completed in a timely manner
  • Ensure that internal controls are complied with for all payroll processes
  • Special projects as assigned

Qualifications and skills

  • Fluency in English and French, oral and written
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of payroll experience with solid Canadian payroll knowledge
  • Experience using Fusion HCM (or other cloud payroll system)
  • ADP/PCPW experience, an asset
  • Payroll based accounting knowledge, an asset
  • PCP Certification or currently in progress
  • Understanding of collective agreements
  • Strong computer skills with advanced Excel
  • Detail oriented with high organizational skills
  • Confidential with excellent customer focus
  • Must have clean criminal record
