Your Tasks as an Assistant Controller:
·Supervise, delegate, administer activities of the office staff at various branches.
·Report to President as required regarding daily activities at each location.
·Liaise with all management at all company locations as required.
·Liaise with outside financial institutions, insurance companies, suppliers, customers, service bureaus, government agencies, accountants, lawyers, computer programmers/technicians, and other outside solicitations.
·Conduct all A/R and A/P reviews monthly or as required.
· Help to prepare complete written reviews with all staff on an annual or semi-annual basis.
·Conduct meetings with office staff to prepare weekly “To do List”
·Approve and/or order all office supplies, equipment, and services as required.
·Supervise and assist in the installation of all computer and telephone software and equipment.
·Liaise with U.S sales reps on issues such as: computer hardware and software, insurance, Employment agreements. Telephone connections etc.
·Help to prepare monthly financial statements for all locations by 15th of the month for the President.
·Prepare sales reports, statistical results for all companies, and commission reports for sales reps, and sales agents on a monthly basis.
·Prepare bank reconciliations for all companies on a monthly basis.
·Monitor and maintain all bank accounts for all companies including balances, transfers, loans and lines of credit.
·Review and /or prepare all government remittances as per due dates including: GST, PST, DAS, WSIB, EHT, CT-23, and T-2.
·Review and/or prepare annual report summaries for EHT, T4’s, and WSIB
·Prepare reports for Statistics Canada (Annual Manufacturing Survey, Monthly Sales) and other government agencies and services (as required)
·Prepare complete set of accounting year-end working papers for corporate Chartered Accountants annually for all companies. (3-month project)
·Prepare written and verbal financial statement analyses for Mgt. as required.
·Prepare customized graphs and charts of sales statistical analysis for Mgt.
·Arrange for additional capital for fixed asset purchases either through financing or leasing.
·Coordinate and or assist in preparation of S.R.E.D. rebate programs
·Negotiate with various vendors for best price of products offered.
·Arrange for foreign exchange purchases of U.S $ comparing and negotiating best rates available.
·Arrange and approve all credit cards terminal for all companies
·Liaise with lawyers on various legal issues, collections, lawsuits etc.
The required qualifications of an Assistant Controller:
·3+ years of experience in this field
·Strong leadership abilities
·Proficient in Microsoft Office – word and excel is a must
·Business Vision software would be a benefit
·Excellent organization, and communication skills
·Strong decision making and problem solving skills
·Strong Accounting Skills
·University Degree in Accounting
