Applications Engineer – Nuclear Sector

Location: Burlington

Salary Range: $150,000 – $175,000 annually

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Applications Engineer to join our team in the Energy, Commercial, and Nuclear sectors. As a vital member of our team, you will collaborate closely with Sales to create comprehensive Request for Proposals (RFPs) and maintain active engagement with our valued customers. Your expertise in reviewing specifications for API 610 pumps and valves, along with an in-depth understanding of ASME Nuclear codes and Nuclear safety requirements, will play a crucial role in ensuring technical accuracy and compliance with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

– Collaborate with Sales to understand customer requirements and specifications, focusing on scope, timing, and technical details.

– Conduct thorough reviews of RFPs and tender documents to ensure clarity in contractual obligations and assess our capability to fulfill specified requirements.

– Create and present detailed techno-commercial offers in alignment with submission schedules, ensuring a balanced approach to technical accuracy and commercial viability.

– Analyze technical specifications for packaged equipment, distilling critical customer requirements, and effectively communicating these to subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams.

– Secure and evaluate quotations for essential equipment, adhering to Supply Chain policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with customer specifications.

– Develop comprehensive proposals that adhere to our Tendering Policies and Procedures, from inquiry to order, with a keen focus on detail and accuracy.

– Actively manage tender data and ensure the seamless flow of information between departments to support successful order placement.

– Offer technical and commercial clarifications to both customers and internal stakeholders, enhancing understanding and facilitating decision-making processes.

– Support regional tendering and sales teams with strategic insights and technical expertise to optimize win order strategies across product lines.

– Ensure compliance with ASME Nuclear codes (N, NA, NPT, NS), CSA N285, and N299.1/2 standards, and follow Nuclear Quality Assurance processes rigorously.

– Liaise with third-party notified bodies like TSSA, understanding and navigating the requirements and expectations of nuclear plant operators, EPC companies, and qualified material organizations.

Skills and Qualifications:

– Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, with a professional engineer designation.

– 5-7 years of experience in a similar role, with a proven ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.

– Strong background in rotating equipment and centrifugal pumps, with a preference for experience in the power, energy, and nuclear sectors.

– In-depth knowledge of ASME Nuclear code, Nuclear safety requirements, and working experience with ASME N, NA, NPT & NS standards as well as CSA N285 and N299.1/2.

– Proficient in following Nuclear Quality Assurance processes and procedures, with the ability to engage with third-party notified bodies such as TSSA.

– Familiarity with the culture and requirements of nuclear plant operators, respective EPC companies, and nuclear-qualified material organizations.

– Excellent communication skills, capable of engaging effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

– Demonstrated ability to remain calm under pressure, with a high level of professionalism and a customer-focused approach.

– Highly organized, self-motivated, and detail-oriented, with a track record of meeting deadlines and achieving high-performance standards.

– Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, SAP, and other relevant technical applications.
