Payroll & Benefits Manager (stand-alone)<\/strong><\/div>\n

On behalf of our client, a well-established organization in the GTA, we are seeking an experienced Payroll & Benefits Manager<\/strong> to take full ownership of payroll operations.<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

This is a hands-on, standalone role<\/strong> ideal for a payroll professional who manages the complete payroll cycle independently and takes pride in compliance, accuracy, and governance. This is not a people leadership position \u2014 it is a technical, subject matter expert role.<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

What You\u2019ll Be Responsible For<\/strong><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

End-to-End Payroll (Primary Focus)<\/strong><\/div>\n
    \n
  • Manage full-cycle payroll processing for all employee groups<\/li>\n
  • Ensure compliance with CRA regulations, CPP, EI, EHT, WSIB, and Ontario legislation<\/li>\n
  • Oversee remittances, statutory deductions, and year-end processes (T4s, T4As, ROEs)<\/li>\n
  • Review complex payroll calculations including retro pay, taxable benefits, overtime, and garnishments<\/li>\n
  • Reconcile payroll to the general ledger in partnership with Finance<\/li>\n
  • Maintain internal controls and support audit readiness<\/li>\n
  • Monitor legislative changes and implement required updates<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    <\/p>\n

    Payroll Systems Ownership<\/strong><\/div>\n
      \n
    • Act as system owner for Dayforce\/Ceridian<\/li>\n
    • Ensure data integrity between payroll, HRIS, and time & attendance<\/li>\n
    • Identify and implement process improvements<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Benefits Administration (Approx. 20\u201325%)<\/strong><\/div>\n
        \n
      • Administer health, dental, life, disability, and retirement programs<\/li>\n
      • Manage enrollments, life events, deductions, and vendor relationships<\/li>\n
      • Ensure accurate benefit reporting and compliance<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        <\/p>\n

        What We\u2019re Looking For<\/strong><\/div>\n
          \n
        • CPM (Certified Payroll Manager) designation \u2013 required or pursuit of<\/li>\n
        • 5+ years of Ontario payroll experience with direct compliance accountability<\/li>\n
        • Strong working knowledge of CRA requirements and provincial payroll legislation<\/li>\n
        • Experience supporting payroll audits and maintaining strong controls<\/li>\n
        • Hands-on experience with enterprise payroll systems (Dayforce preferred)<\/li>\n
        • High attention to detail and strong ownership mindset<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
