A privately held real estate investment and management company with a portfolio of commercial and residential properties across Qu\u00e9bec and Ontario is looking for a Controller to lead its accounting operations. This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced and driven CPA looking to step into a strategic role within a close-knit, entrepreneurial environment.<\/div>\n
The Opportunity<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
As Controller, you will act as the right hand to the VP Finance, overseeing the full accounting cycle and ensuring accurate financial reporting across the portfolio. You will also serve as the main liaison with banking partners and contribute to the company\u2019s ongoing growth and financial health.<\/div>\n
You\u2019ll be responsible for leading a team of six, including four Property Accountants, an Accounts Payable Clerk, and an Accounts Receivable Clerk.<\/div>\n

Key Responsibilities<\/div>\n

  • \n
    Supervise and support the accounting team in their daily operations<\/div>\n<\/li>\n
  • \n
    Oversee monthly and year-end financial reporting for multiple properties<\/div>\n<\/li>\n
  • \n
    Ensure proper financial controls and compliance with internal procedures<\/div>\n<\/li>\n
  • \n
    Liaise with external auditors, tax advisors, and financial institutions<\/div>\n<\/li>\n
  • \n
    Analyze and present financial data to support business decisions<\/div>\n<\/li>\n
  • \n
    Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management<\/div>\n<\/li>\n
  • \n
    Participate in process improvement initiatives and system enhancements<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
    What We\u2019re Looking For<\/div>\n
      \n
    • \n
      CPA designation (mandatory)<\/div>\n<\/li>\n
    • \n
      5+ years of relevant experience, including in real estate or property management<\/div>\n<\/li>\n
    • \n
      Proven experience managing teams and working independently<\/div>\n<\/li>\n
    • \n
      Strong understanding of multi-entity accounting and client reporting<\/div>\n<\/li>\n
    • \n
      Excellent communication skills in both French and English (office operates primarily in English)<\/div>\n<\/li>\n
    • \n
      Comfortable in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial setting<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
