Senior Project Manager – Mechanical and Electrical Contractor

Job Summary:

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Project Manager to lead our mechanical and electrical contracting projects. As the Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible for managing site staff, foremen, union plumbing under Local 46, and non-union sheet metal workers. Your engineering background will be invaluable in overseeing the technical aspects of projects. This role requires a versatile individual who can effectively coordinate activities both in the office and on project sites.

Responsibilities:

1. Project Planning and Execution:

– Collaborate with clients, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to define project objectives, scope, and requirements.

– Develop comprehensive project plans, including timelines, budgets, resource allocation, and procurement strategies.

– Ensure projects are executed with precision, adhering to engineering standards, industry best practices, and safety guidelines.

2. Team Management and Leadership:

– Lead, motivate, and mentor site staff, foremen, and other project team members.

– Foster a collaborative work environment that encourages innovation and excellence.

– Conduct regular team meetings to ensure effective communication and coordination.

3. Technical Oversight:

– Utilize your engineering expertise to provide technical guidance and solutions to complex mechanical and electrical challenges.

– Ensure compliance with design specifications and regulatory requirements.

4. Union and Non-Union Workforce Coordination:

– Collaborate with union plumbing workers under Local 46, establishing strong working relationships while ensuring adherence to union guidelines.

– Oversee non-union sheet metal workers, ensuring they align with the project’s goals and quality standards.

5. Budget and Cost Management:

– Monitor project budgets, expenditures, and cost projections.

– Implement cost-effective measures while maintaining the project’s quality and scope.

6. Site Inspection and Quality Control:

– Conduct regular site visits to inspect project progress, workmanship, and safety compliance.

– Enforce strict quality control measures to deliver projects to the highest standards.

7. Risk Management:

– Identify potential risks and challenges and develop proactive strategies to mitigate them.

– Implement contingency plans to address unforeseen circumstances.

8. Communication and Reporting:

– Maintain open and transparent communication with clients, subcontractors, and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.

– Provide regular project updates, reports, and presentations to senior management.

9. Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance:

– Champion a strong safety culture, promoting adherence to safety protocols and regulations.

– Ensure environmental compliance and encourage sustainable practices where feasible.

Requirements:

– Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.

– Proven track record of at least 8-10 years successfully managing mechanical and electrical projects.

– Strong technical background and knowledge of engineering principles.

– Experience in managing union and non-union workforces, particularly Local 46.

– Excellent leadership and team management skills.

– Proficiency in project management software and tools.

– Thorough understanding of construction codes, regulations, and safety standards.

– Ability to work both in the office and on project sites as required.

– Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

– Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
