A Senior Mechanical Project Manager to spearhead mechanical engineering division in the Markham office.

As a Senior Project Manager, you will play a pivotal role in not only managing high-profile projects but also in mentoring and

developing the team of enthusiastic mechanical engineers.

KEY RESULT AREAS FOR THIS ROLE

  • Building Restoration
  • Construction review (direct associates, construction, operations, and maintenance activities at project site.
  • Work with contractors to resolve deficiencies and ensure compliance with specifications).
  • Contract Administration and Project Management: (payment certificates, monitoring budgets and tracking quantities, review meeting minutes and construction summary reports).
  • Condition Assessments / Preliminary Reviews / Field Review Services: (review of various building systems including but not limited to Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC), Hydronic Heating and Cooling Systems, Snow Melting and in floor heating, Plumbing, Sanitary, Strom Water, Natural Gas Piping, Fire Protection and Sprinkler, Clean agent Fire Suppression Systems and Building Automation System (BAS).
  • Conduct testing, gather and analyzes information, help interpret findings.
  • Record detailed notes including sketches.
  • Design, size and calculate the hydronic load for heating and cooling systems and piping, size sanitary and storm piping systems including pumps, natural gas load calculation and pipe layout design , fire protection and sprinkler system design, clean agent fire suppression system design.
  • Prepare and review reports including assessment and options for repair with cost calculations.
  • Design and Tender (prepare/review draft bid documents and specification packages including scope of work and bid forms).
  • Oversee document assembly and detail drafting.
  • Review straightforward plans and designs for repairs and equipment replacement, in accordance with established codes, standards, drawings or other specifications.
  • Communicate with bidders and attend tender meetings.
  • Review draft Bid Analysis report.

Project Management:

  • Independently conceives projects.
  • Provides guidance and training to the project team in the execution of projects.
  • Final review of deliverables to ensure they comply with client objectives.
  • Makes independent decisions on work methods and procedures.
  • Manages project delivery, define project scope, specify deliverables, estimate and control project duration.
  • Responsible for preparation or review of specifications & schematic design, contract administration & quality control of building restoration projects and business proposals.
  • Coordinates Client and Contractor relations for conflict resolution and for the successful execution of construction projects.
  • Participates in discussions and devises ways of reaching objectives in the most economical way and meets any unusual conditions affecting work progress.

Client Management and Business Development:

  • Strong client relationship management and business development skills.
  • Follow-up on client requests and drive projects to completion.
  • Represents the company with clients on an ongoing basis.
  • Continuously seeks feedback from clients and implements suggestions in to processes and templates.
  • Identifies future work at client properties.
  • Follows up with clients and maintains a list of project LEADS which generate proposals.
  • Seeks opportunities and is successful at expanding services to new and existing clients.

Revenue Generation:

  • Participates in short and long-range planning.
  • Responsible for meeting financial targets.
  • Responsible for generating new business and sustaining a client base.

Team Management:

  • Responsible for the recruitment of staff, overseeing career compensation reviews for staff under their direct supervision.
  • Directing several professionals and achieving recognition as an authority in the organization.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES ARE REQUIRED FOR SUCCESS IN THIS ROLE

Knowledge

  • Minimum 10+ years of Mechanical Systems experience within the consulting sector specializing in Mechanical Restoration.
  • 2-3+ years being responsible for Project Management and full execution of building mechanical restoration projects, Condition Assessments of commercial, institutional and residential buildings.
  • Licensed Professional Engineering (P.Eng)
  • Proven Project Management expertise including: Contract Admin, Budgets, Estimates, Scheduling, Proposal Writing / Development
  • Able to take projects from conception to completion including defining scope of works and preparing specifications.
  • Technical expertise in the preparation of specifications & schematic design to govern repair/replacement of mechanical systems.
  • Proven experience working on existing building projects on a variety of building types e.g. Multi-residential (Condominiums), Community Housing, Municipal Buildings, Commercial Offices, Recreational Facilities etc.
  • Strong expertise in preparing project proposals, technical specifications, Building Conditions Assessment reports
