Our Client, a specialty fabric manufacturer in south, east Mississauga is looking for a Senior Custom Fabricator Technician, offering an exceptional and unique role combining a hybrid skill-set mix of mechanical, technical and critical-thinking creativity.

With your CNC fabrication skills, Cad/Cam knowledge and passion working with 2 specific materials, you’ll create trial runs and finalized custom-designed artwork displayed at commercial places of business, hospitality and institutional interiors.

Joining a small team of ‘craftsmen & fabricators’ you’ll be able to put your mechanical, technical and creative flair to work making eco-friendly artwork, conceptualized by Architects and Interior Designers.

The ideal candidate will have 8+ years experience fabricating, programming a CNC machine, reading drawings, using 2D & 3D CAD/CAM software.

• Salary range of: $ 75,000 to $ 85,000.00 with O/T after 44 hours per week

Your tasks and skills as a Fabrication Technician:

• The creation of custom fabricated products using a variety of manufacturing techniques under the guidance of the Production Supervisor

• Mechanical, hands-on ability to use CNC cutting machine, CNC laser machine, heat presses, power saws and grinders, drill presses, and adhesive tools—as well as the proper care and maintenance of all machinery

• Proficiency utilizing software to edit and create CAD/graphic files for efficient planning and production

• Read and interpret technical drawings and instructions for fabrication design concepts

• Able to perform all stages of fabrication and, at times, responsible for the full execution from start to finish. This includes (but is not limited to) production scheduling, overall production planning and expectation setting, inventory assessment, fabrication, and custom packaging to ensure safe and reliable shipment

• Together with the sales team, consult with customers on how to best fabricate custom concepts

• Mindful of quality control and finding solutions through root-cause analysis to resolve issues

• Ensure orders and projects are completed on-time/on-schedule

Qualifications:

• 8+ years of manufacturing production experience preferably with some CNC machining, fabrication and hands-on mechanically and technically proficient

• Experience with CNC machining or custom fabrication

• Equipment and tools operations experience: CNC cutting machine, CNC laser machine, heat presses, power saws and grinders, drill presses, and adhesive tools—as well as the proper care and maintenance of all machinery

• Ability to use and design/read 2D software “Double CAD” and 3D program “Spaceclaim”

• Confident math skills with measurements, conversions, measurement instruments (vernier/caliper)

• Exceptional organizational skill, particularly when documenting steps and trials in custom fabrication—to be used for quality control and the efficiency of similar/future orders

• Ability to interpret as well as work with CAD drawings and programs

• Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving and continuous improvement mindset
