CNC Machinist

Our client, a manufacturer in Stoney Creek, is looking for a CNC Machinist for a permanent opportunity. The ideal candidate will have 5 years of working experience in either steel, heavy equipment, energy and or mining industries for a multi-disciplined manufacturing organization and looking for an opportunity where there is growth and learning incentives.

Your tasks as the CNC Machinist

• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, or study sample parts to determine machining operations to be performed.
• Be able to compute dimensions and measure and lay out work pieces.
• Maintain tight tolerances and verify dimensions of components for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments such as a micrometers, verniers, bore gauges and height gauges.
• Perform the duties listed above with flexibility using multiple machines.
• Working on machines ranging from medium to large parts: Horizontal boring mill, vertical boring mill, lathes, or vertical milling machines
• Fit and assemble machined metal parts and subassemblies using hand and power tools.
• Use indicators and other precise measurement tools to set up and fixture parts, set tool holders and cutting tools and touch-off tooling and adjust ensure adherence to dimensions and geometric specifications.

The required qualifications of the CNC Machinist

• Demonstrated specific large part/large machine experience, conventional or CNC.
• Demonstrated experience in custom machining environments.
• Communicate effectively, show respect for others, and be a team player.
• # 5 – 6 of work experience
• Provincial Certificate of Qualification or Red Seal, Trade certificate
