Payroll and Benefits Specialist-Canada & US
Overview:
Responsible for processing payroll and administering employee benefits across Canada and the U.S. Ensures payroll accuracy, compliance with relevant laws, and maintains up-to-date employee records.

Key Responsibilities:
- Process weekly and bi-weekly payroll for Canadian and U.S. employees
- Calculate wages, bonuses, commissions, and manage all payroll deductions
- Validate timesheets, attendance, and leave requests
- Maintain payroll records, direct deposit details, and reconcile payroll accounts
- Administer group insurance and retirement plans (e.g., RRSP), including reporting and compliance
- Submit WSIB/WCB and workers' compensation filings
- Ensure compliance with federal, provincial/state, and local regulations
- Prepare tax filings (e.g., T4s, W2s, EHT, WSIB) and support audits
- Maintain and update payroll software and generate reports as needed
- Respond to employee and government inquiries related to payroll and benefits
- Contribute to HR projects and perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Degree or diploma in Accounting, Business, or a related field preferred
- 5+ years of payroll experience, including both Canadian and U.S. payroll
- Knowledge of Dayforce is an asset
- PCP or CPM certification strongly preferred
Skills & Competencies:
- High attention to detail and strong numerical skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and payroll systems
- Solid understanding of payroll laws and tax regulations
- Strong communication, customer service, and confidentiality skills
- Ability to manage deadlines and work under pressure
